You’re moving into a place with security components
A new house may come with an installed security system. All the components work, are placed in the best places, and are ready to go. In this case, just pick up the phone to call and establish a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to make sure there are no usability problems, and they could offer suggestions on upgrades. It's a fast appointment, and you can have your 24/7 monitoring set up without paying for any new components -- unless you add on.
The outgoing owners can move an existing Vivint contract to your family for a small transfer cost to make the transfer a snap. If the owners downsize to an apartment complex or retirement community, turning over the home security service may be a condition of the sale.
You need to move and take your old components with you
You might need to bring along your favorite smart devices with you to a new place when you move. It should be pretty easy to transfer, as most smart devices are plug and play. You can take down each alarm or camera by yourself or use a professional expert to dismantle the system. Then an expert will set up the same features -- and any smart services you need to add -- in the new home. The home security contract will stay the same.
